Ben Godwin Reigns Supreme Two Years Straight In Geraldton

GERALDTON, Australia (Sunday, September 14, 2008) - The final rounds of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 1-Star SunSmart Surfmasters were completed today at Flat Rocks in Geraldton.

Ben Godwin that went from strength to strength, showing the forehand repiotre that had seen him secure the highest combined scores of the event. Godwin secured a 7.50 and a 5.87 to seal back-to-back wins at Flat Rocks for two years in a row.

The waves were tricky out there, but that suit me just fine we have a similar left hand point at home which I surf all the time," Godwin said. I was way more nervous this time, coming in feeling really ready but as last year's champ you can feel like you have a target on you back.

Godwin will now look to use this event as a springboard into bigger events in 2009. For the mean time, Godwin will remain in Western Australia for a few more days in hope of swell and offshore winds and travel home to New South Wales on Wednesday.
